***If you are a diehard Rick Perry fan, just stop reading right here. It will not do you any good to go down to the comment section and complain about what you read here. It won’t. So, continue at your own risk.***
As many of you have discovered by now, there is a whole boat load of folks wanting to be the republican nominee for the office of the President of the United States. I don’t intend to try to sway you in your selection, or even tell you to vote Democrat, but I am here to tell you, actually beg you, not to believe that Rick Perry represents the rest of us in Texas. I hope you don’t believe everything you’ve heard!
My statistics tracker tells me that since the first of the year, folks have been reading from 47 states and the District of Columbia. It is you—these 47 other states and D. C.—that I am talking to. All of you will be voting in this election. Folks here in Texas already know about Rick Perry.
We don’t all walk with a swagger. We don’t all carry a gun when we jog so we can shoot coyotes. We don’t all open our mouths to talk without engaging the brain. We don’t all talk affectionately about our religious beliefs without ever mentioning our pastor, or for that matter, what church we attend. We don’t all tell lies about our accomplishments. We don’t all live in a $10,000 per month condo at the State’s expense while our home is being repaired.
I know you have heard that things are bigger in Texas, and in some cases that is true. In Rick Perry’s case, it is absolutely true when you’re talking about his ego. Or when you’re talking about his budget gutting. And when you’re talking about the amount of his financial support from those he rewards with state contracts and appointments.
I realize this is pretty much a moot point right now, but the way those republican polls go, he could gain strength before this is all over. Folks could figure out that Newt Gingrich is really as skanky as we’ve heard and cause him to drop in the polls. It is too early to tell and too soon to predict.
So, please, just remember this: Texas is full of wonderfully nice folks who are smart, articulate and have a memory. We are honest, hardworking and generous to a fault. Most of us actually practice what we preach. And many of us are embarrassed by Rick Perry.
So, until next time,
Edith Ann

I guess you didn't buy the back surgery excuse....:-)
""If there's one thing that I could change in my campaign I would've moved that surgery I had the first of July back to the first of January," Perry said in an interview on Fox News.
"I didn't realize it was going to have as big an impact and frankly I didn't even know it was having the impact it was having on me–from the standpoint of just being fatigued–and it showed up in the first few debates," the governor explained.
But six days ago Perry said his health wasn't a factor at all in his performance, or in the notable "oops" moment he experienced during a presidential debate when he forgot the third government agency he'd cut if elected president.
How could we elect a man that dumb?
We--Texas--kept electing a man that dumb and disasterous for this state for two reasons:
1. Perry would never, every debate any of his opponents in any of his races. Bet he wishes now he had had some practice.
2. Folks in Texas like to pull just one lever. They don't really care the 'who', just the party. I sometimes think Hitler could get elected to any office if he ran on the republican ticket.
Well put dear friend. I live in the city, work in an office, and am tight with the culturally correct. That said, I don't think I could have done a piece on Guvner Goodhair, without it being laced with profanity and reflecting my tugboat/crewboat tears. He is as I predicted the day he threw his hat into the ring, self destructing. Let's see now if he has as much common sense as Herman Cain, and recognizes that he is on the wrong train.......
I'll be at the LBJ ranch praying for the second coming of LBJ.
Google "Rick Perry Holiday Greetings photo". Sure, it's from 2003, but which is it, Happy Holidays or Merry Christmas?
Looks like I'll be spending the day looking for a proofreader. Gee whiz!
Okay, Pilot--yes, he will fizzle and burn out. Most of the time he is his own worst enemy. I can only hope that after this that Texas will have wised up enough to not let this man ever be elected again, to any office. Ever.
BigJ--LOL!
not securely anchored--Juanita Jean had two pictures on one of her lastest blogs. Both are seasonal, and neither one mentions the word 'Christmas'.
Well, hopefully, folks around the country don't paint us all with the same brush...
Here's the link to the Juanita Jean "Rick Perry's War on Christmas" photos.

"... And when you’re talking about the amount of his financial support from those he rewards with state contracts and appointments."
This patronage just proves he is well suited to, and ready for, life in D.C.
And that is the saddest statement about our system.
Obama has done the same thing with the appointment of all his Czars. Bush did the same thing with Cabinet posts.
Sgt. Jiggler
In the Perry Guvnor's Office everything is for sale. Wanna be a Regent for Texas A&M University? For the mere price of $300,000 in campaign contributions Mr C.L. Thomas, President of Thomas Petroleum of Victoria, Texas, is the proud holder of the title, Mr Regent.
Czar is a media term for a temporary position for a low- level official that oversees a particular policy.i.e. We have a" car czar" that's overseeing the transition of GM and another that's called the "pay czar" who dealt with the 9/11 victim payouts and is now dealing with the BP/Gulf area payout. President Bush had a "war czar" who dealt strictly with Iraq. I believe the Obama administration has 33 people that are called czars( they have official titles)and they don't usually go through a nomination process and they never made part of the cabinet. The Bush administration had about 32 czars in his 8 years. There's no influence peddling or evil intent in filling those jobs.
Diplomats are usually political in nature but they're not considered " pay for play."
Our Governor Rick Perry tried to sideline a state commissioner who opposed granting the expansion of a nuclear-waste landfill owned by the governor's biggest political donor, billionaire Harold Simmons.
Perry's appointments chief, Teresa Spears, offered commissioner Gregory an alternative job -- a prestigious appointment as a regent of a state university.
Perry has several ties to Merck and Women in Government. One of the drug company's three lobbyists in Texas is Mike Toomey, his former chief of staff. His current chief of staff's mother-in-law, Texas Republican state Rep. Dianne White Delisi, is a state director for Women in Government. Governor Perry received about $377,500 from Merck in his role as head of the governors association and being the governor of Taxes to peddle the HPV vaccine. That's using his office for influence peddling.
Ya know, most of the Rep. candidates have met with the Trumpster, Donald Trump, and want his endorsement, why?
Donald was just on TV re-kindling his feud with Rosie.
WHAT I want to know is exactly how much time does the man spend in a tanning booth?
He has the opposite of dark circles under his eyes... he has white as a new piece of paper skin below and above his eyes, he must wear those little goggles when he tans. lol
It appears that "off-again/on-again" Geanie's family member has recovered from that serious illness. It appears somewhere in the not too distant future the GOP will have another opportunity to refile for State Representative. I sure hope that the tamu"v" virus strain rears its ugly head in Geanie's political future. Merry Christmas! Looks like the Grinch has stolen our political presents and given them to Geanie.
Morrison can only be termed a nervy bitch. A press conferance to announce she's too chickenshit to face another incumbant, then pulling an equally chickenshit move and filing anyway.
Right up there with Rick Perry "retiring".
VOTE THEM ALL OUT!!!!!!
Bighorn
well, if it's not ALL Texans who are the Rick Perry type, then it's gotta be like 98% then.
i thought Perry would be a shoe-in when he announced he was running, but then he opened his mouth. i can't figure out how he got himself elected to governor, but you're right, i think you just need a big "R" after your name. every time i pass that GOP Headquarters office in Victoria i think "Gee, how hard can that job really be?"
enjoying your blog.
-GAME05
Geanie Morrison sealed her fate with the TAMU stuff. Contrary to what a few might think, she is not the darling of Victoria--a prominent Victorian helped organize a "Meet Todd Hunter" event at the Pumphouse. This person is usually a Dem.
Geanie had already been relegated to a basemant office--does that sound like someone who is the darling of the Legislature?
She is out-fnanced by Hunter, he has a better record and he gets along with folks. Bighorn, I think you are right--she acted in haste and she is hoping to hell that the redistricting favors her. I don't think it will.
Sgt. Jiggler--let's hope Perry continues his downhill slide.
Mike--interesting and, I think, accurate assessment of Perry habits.
Legion--I saw a picture of Trump with John Boehner, and they were the same shade of orange! I think Trump is not happy that Boehner is the highest ranking elected orange official. They both need to give up the tanning habit!
GAME05--Welcome! Folks are always asking how Perry kept getting reelected in Texas. Here's how:
a. He NEVER participated in a debate. The good folks of Texas did not get to see what we are seeing now.
b. He has an R after his name (used to be a D) and this state LOVES to pull a single lever. Hitler could get elected to most any position in Texas if he ran as a republican. At least that is what I think.
c. That is how Rick the Ick Perry keeps getting elected.
However, he has so screwed the teachers of Texas over with this latest budget, I will be amazed and will seriously question the cognitive abilities of any teacher who would still vote for him, for any thing!
"Leave it to the same old haters to spout off about things they know nothing about... Mrs. Morrison does indeed have a family member who is very ill...time when she really needs to stay closer to home. Good luck, Geanie!"
HAHAHAHALOLOLOLOLOL. This is what I know. Geanie obviously gives less of a damn of her sick family member than she does being a very little blood sucking leach in the basement of the Capitol Building. If my relative was sick... I would not be playing rep in Austin. Simply unbelievable!
Simply stated, Geanie loves the trappings of power.
Let me just say--Geanie Morrison will now have to run on her record.
And if she should be so LUCKY to win again--she needs to fire Justin--he didn't do a very good job of spinning this about face in the paper.
Two thumbs-up to Edith Ann.
Thumb 1: "Geanie Morrison sealed her fate with the TAMU stuff."
Thumb 2: "However, [Rick Perry] has so screwed the teachers of Texas over with this latest budget, I will be amazed and will seriously question the cognitive abilities of any teacher who would still vote for him, for any thing!"
Edith Ann.
At least Speaker Boehner has an even tan, but hey what do I know? I’m just a “N’er with an attitude” . Those are Bighorn’s words, not mine.
Speaking about Geanie Morrison, I really, really want to know who is the poster kissing Morison’s @$$.I starting to guess that poster is no other than her aid, Justin what’s his name. I have to ask you this Edith Ann. Are the local Democrats recruiting or they going to sit on their hands like always?
The excuses I read is that Morrison would spend time campaigning away from Victoria and in the Corpus area. Wow!! What a load of crap. Austin has the same or greater distance from Victoria. I guess GOP Chair Michael McCloud, Geanie Morrison, and that Justin idiot must think we are all stupid. I’m not surprise because HB3015 and the anti- teacher budget is apart of her agenda.
.
Riverboat--
I think Perry's arrogance does not let him believe that the large number of teachers in Texas are a significant voting bloc. He probably figures they don't make enough of a difference. Well, DUH! We know that was what he was thinking when he gutted the budget! It is shameful what he did!
BigJ--
It is my understanding that there are two folks expressing some semi serious chatter about this spot. Do I have anything concrete? And have I seen anything from the County Chair confirming one way or another? No and no. But, Morrison didn't make it easy with her flip-flopping. Nor has the confusion over boundary lines helped. I can understand a person's hesitation to commit to something that is iffy looking.
As to the excuses, BigJ, I went to college in Corpus and drove back and forth every day. I have children and grandchildren in Austin. Corpus--an hour and a half. Austin--two and a half on a good day. But she has no intention on staying in Victoria. She likes Austin too much. So, the Austin to CC run would be long. Poor thing.
Dear Ms Morrison:
Nice website regarding your record... http://www.geaniemorrison.com/record.html
May I make a couple small suggestions: a) Update your photo. It would be difficult recognizing you today should your constituents have the opportunity to meet you at the VEDC meeting. b) You may want to include the status of a minor bill you sponsored entitled "Move the UHV". c) What about your biggest accomplishment... I think you entitled it, "Throw Students under the College Loan" bill.
Other than those little additions, Great Website Geanie! We look forward to a potential refiling date so we can find anyone with a pulse who will bring integrity to District 30.
